Two July events in Arvada will be putting runners through their paces, with one just for kids and the other inviting everybody.
On Sunday, July 19, local children can try their best at swimming, running, and biking at the Kids' TRYathlon. Following the traditional triathlon format, children can have fun and test their abilities.
Boys and girls ages 11 through 13 will check in at 7:00 am and swim 100 yards, bike 1.5 miles and run one-mile starting at 7:30 am. Those aged 8 to 10 will check in at 7:30 am, swim 50 yards, bike 1.5 miles, and run half a mile beginning at 8:00 am. Finally, kids from the ages of five to seven will check in at 8:00 pm and start their 25-yard swim, one-mile bike ride, and 0.5-mile run at 8:30 am.
This year's Kids' TRYathlon will take place at Secrest Recreation Center, 6820 W. 66 Avenue. Admission will be $42 for residents while those from further afield will pay $52.
Secrest Recreation Center will also have teams building boats out of cardboard and Tape and racing them across the pool. Admission will be $45 per team, although resident teams pay a discounted fee of $35.
The Cardboard Boat Race will take place on Saturday, July 25 from 8:00 am to 11:30 am.
