Arvada will be getting ready for Christmas with workshops, Santa and Mrs. Claus meet-and-greets, Grinchmas, and holiday competitions in December.
Echter’s Nursery and Garden Center at 5150 Garrison Street will be holding workshops for making Christmas fairy gardens on December 4, wreathes on December 6 and 8, holiday gnomes on December 7, and Grinch trees on December 11.
On Wednesday, December 4, Mrs. Claus will be telling stories, singing, and dancing with everyone while guests sip warm cocoa and enjoy mint candy cane treats, and little ones get their faces painted. This will be at Fitzmorris Elementary School, 6250 Independence Way.
The Apex Center will be holding its annual Grinchmas on Saturday, December 7. Whether naughty or nice, everyone is invited to enjoy games, crafts, a bounce house, and the synthetic ice rink. Preregistration is required.
Santa will be visiting Echter’s on the December 7, 8, and 14, with pets also invited on December 8. Guests are asked to bring food donations for Community Table Food Bank. Mr. Claus will also be making a stop at the Apex Center on December 14 for pictures, cookies, and hot chocolate.
Pictures taken at events like this, although late in the season, may still have time to go to Stationery printers with a quick enough turnaround for them to be used on Christmas cards.
Finally, Olde Town will have its annual Lagniappe/Cider and Eggnog competition and Arvada Fire's Chili Cookoff on Monday, December 9. On Friday, December 20, it will present its annual Olde Town Caroling Contest with both professional and amateur singers.
