Valley Village to prepare botanical ink workshop
Mother Nature gives many gifts, and a Valley Village area workshop will show how inks can be made using a variety of plant-based pigments.
Members of the local artistic community, and anyone else who would like to learn more about using pigments sourced from botanicals harvested in the local area, are welcome to register for a workshop planned by Forager Crafts. The inks prepared will be watercolor, and the event will feature hands-on activities.
The participants will learn how to identify plants in the field that may be used to produce natural ink, and they will also be taught about some important plant modifiers. Everyone will be able to prepare two or three different inks, and the session will continue on as they use their creations to craft a painting.
There are three different ticket tiers to choose from, and Botanical Inks and Drinks’ Janne Larsen will serve as the instructor for the activity. The class will run for two hours.
Artists may welcome the chance to work with inks or other materials they have crafted themselves. A workshop provides the opportunity to learn how to do so, and stationery printers will be happy to provide copies of any handouts of other printed items that will be distributed to the attendees.
Forager Crafts, which is located at 2915 Knox Avenue in Los Angeles, has made plans to run this class on January 25. Tickets start at $65.87.
