Valley Village class to create new crop of needle crafters
Knitting can be a fun hobby that can be enjoyed throughout a person’s life, and a Valley Village workshop will give newbies a chance to learn from some local needle crafters.
The Altered Stitch has made arrangements to offer Knitting 101, which will teach those who take part the fundamentals. The class runs for two hours, and the registration fee is $50.
The attendees in the workshop will be walked through the basics of knitting, including casting on and off, the purl stitch and the knit stitch. They are asked to bring some yarn to work with, and it's recommended that it be worsted weight #4. A US size 7 needle is also required, and those who are interested can choose to join the class in person or online. Anyone who doesn't have any is asked to purchase some in advance, and there will be staff on hand at the venue to help.
An introductory class provides an easy way for those who are new and inexperienced to decide if a particular hobby appeals to them. Handouts can provide them with more information, and these can be prepared by local flyer printing companies.
This chance for Valley Village residents to get their feet wet when it comes to knitting will begin at 10:00 am on January 6th. It is expected that spots will be booked up quickly.
