Late August will be the last chance for residents of Studio City to enjoy the comedy Without Annette.
The plot revolves around a weekly improv class with all the drama, emotions, and competition. The show will be a combination of both scripted and improvisation. There will be mini musical performances by the Grammy-winning guitarist from Wings Laurence Juber throughout the evening.
Juber is producing the play, which was created and written by Hope Juber (from musicals such as ‘A Very Brady Musical’ and ‘It’s the Housewives!’) and improv coach and noted actor (from TV’s ‘Scandal’ and ‘Desperate Housewives’) Jeff Doucette. The play is a fast-paced romp through the secrets, affairs, laughter, and vulnerabilities of a group of would-be improv hopefuls who ultimately must perform an improvised finale.
The audience will play the part of the auditor and will occasionally be asked to shout out suggestions to the cast members. The characters in ‘Sam’s Improv Workshop’ range from the young to the old, the more experienced actor to the young novice and from laid back to maniacal. Pat Taylor from the Tolucan Times calls it “Laugh out loud funny!” Local printing services have no doubt been busily printing programs for this evening, as they have for the six other preceding performances.
This final performance will be presented Sunday, August 30, starting at 7:00 pm at West Theater, 13126 Ventura Blvd, Studio City.
