Studio City to give back to the community during the holidays

The Studio City Residents Association, in partnership with the Studio City Recreation Center, will be holding its fifth annual Winter Family Festival early next month.

More than 70 tons of snow will be shipped in so thousands of guests can enjoy snowball fights, slides, and snowman building. Parents will want to bring cameras to get action shots of their little ones for this year’s Holiday Cards.

The organizers expect the attendance to exceed the 5,000+ people who came last year. One segment of the event will be ‘A Taste of the Holidays’, at which local eateries and restaurants will be giving out food samples. Performers for the event will include the Campbell Hall Brazilian Percussion Ensemble, the Beeman Park Guitar Group and Hip Hop Ballet, and the ARC Hand Bell Choir that will be performing using 42 bells.

Although the event will be free, everyone is asked to take part in the ‘Festival of Giving’, another part of the event, by bringing new unwrapped toys, pet items, baby supplies, canned or packaged food items, and/or blankets. Those who wish to donate items before the big day can take items to the Studio City Recreation Center a couple of days early. The center will be accepting donations from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. Everyone who brings a donation will be entered to win four admission tickets and front of the line passes to Universal Studios Hollywood.

The festival will be held at the Studio City Recreation Center, also known as Beeman Park, at 12621 Rye Street here in Studio City on December 13, running from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
