Studio City offers virtual writing workshop for immigrants

The Restless Books Immigrant Writing Workshop series is scheduled to occur as an online event in Studio City next month.

The workshops are organized by Restless Books and are part of the 2020 California Humanities Library Innovation Lab Programming. Restless Books is a non-profit publishing organization that also hosts reading and writing programs, and a Readers Club that allows members to receive six Books each year.

Limited to a total of 20 participants, this virtual event is designed to help immigrants in Studio City or other nearby communities to strengthen their English reading and writing skills through exercises taught by professional teachers. While English will be the predominant language, participants are also welcome to use their own language in some of the fictional, poetic, or nonfiction works they will write throughout the program. Poster printing is a commonly chosen way for the organizers of related online events to post printed advertisements of essential event information across many highly trafficked local venues.

Those who are interested in attending the workshops can email Emily Aaronson in order to sign up for free participation. Individuals can register alone, or two people can sign up as a team.

The Immigrant Writing Workshop is set to stream from the Studio City Branch Library over the next three Tuesdays - February 2, 9, and 16. Each will be a 90-minute session.
