The 2019 Watermelon Festival will be coming at the end of June. More than 60,000 pounds of fresh sliced chilled California watermelon will await Studio City watermelon aficionados.
Opened from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm both days, the Kids’ Zone will have pony rides, petting zoo, magic show, and a Children’s theatre. There will be bubble parties, crafts, balloon hats, butterfly feedings, rock climbing and a Wildlife Exhibit. The arena will offer games like Knocker Ball and there will be a BMX bike Pro Stunt Show.
Guests are invited to come to the King and Queen tent dressed in their watermelon best so they can enter the costume contest starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Event organizers like to take pictures of their contest winners to use in future brochure printing.
A full carnival will be at the festival including kiddie rides.
Other attractions will include watermelon carvings, food and drink tastings and cooking demonstrations in the Culinary Pavilion.
The 80’s tribute band, Flux Capacitors, will begin its performance at 8:00 pm on Saturday, and the Selena Tribute Band will take over the stage at 8:00 pm Sunday.
Food booths will be offering everything from Vegan and barbeque to watermelon drinks and watermelon desserts.
The California Watermelon Festival will take place at the Hansen Dam Soccer Complex, 11480 Foothill Boulevard, Lake View Terrace on Saturday June 29th and June 30th from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm.
