Since all Los Angeles libraries are presently closed, many programs have gone online.
Adults in nearby Studio City are invited to a Poetry Jam on Google Hangouts this Thursday, April 30, at 3:00 pm. This interactive event will be an invitation for viewers to share their favorite poems that are helping them during the current situation, or to read their own.
Adults and seniors can drop-in on virtual sessions on Mindfulness Awareness on Mondays at 5:30 pm. Bram Barouh from the John C. Fremont Branch Library is the facilitator. He will discuss how to get control of anxiety and get our calm back.
Book Clubs are online for adults A virtual cookbook club, facilitated by the Lake View Terrace Branch will be online at 5:00 pm Tuesdays in May. Every month has a theme and May is “vegetables”. Participants can post their favorite recipes on social platforms using the hashtag #lvtlaplcookbook and recipes will be chosen to be viewed on OverDrive.
Another book club for adults will begin on Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 pm on Google Hangouts. This will be the Virtual Adult Science Fiction Book Club. The first book will be People of the Book, an anthology of Jewish authors.
These online events can keep us connected to the outside world, making websites, and the content and graphic design that goes into them, more important than ever.
