An exhibition by Peter Krasnow will be on display in Los Angeles beginning next month.
Visitors will be able to see 20 drawings and paintings from the extensive collection of Krasnow’s work at the Skirball Cultural Center. Residents of nearby Studio City may want to attend this special exhibit.
The focus of the exhibit is works created during the years after the Holocaust and World War II. Krasnow created these vibrant pieces that are filled with radiating optimism, abstract Forms, and exuberance, thereby evoking a spiritual world of renewal to ease the despair brought on by that painful period in history.
Such unique exhibits are often promoted throughout a city and surrounding communities with poster printing.
Krasnow is a Jewish immigrant who came to the United States from Ukraine in 1907 and joined the art community of Los Angeles in the 1920s. He spent more than 50 years living and working in Atwater Village, where his work was inspired by the vibrant hues and organic Forms of his studio and home, his Jewish heritage, and the optimism of Southern California.
The exhibition is on display from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, September 3. The hours of the Skirball Cultural Center are noon to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The venue is closed on Mondays.
