The COVID-19 outbreak has left many Studio City parents looking for ways to entertain their kids in their homes. Fortunately, several local entities are taking kids’ activities online.
CuriOdyssey Science Playground & Zoo has a website with science experiments that kids can do using household items such as aluminum foil, raw eggs, and ice, as well as outdoor item leaves and sticks.
Live cams can also come in handy, especially the ones from Safari Park in Escondido and the San Diego Zoo. Kids can watch penguins, apes, baboons, and elephants playing in their habitats. Some links also offer short lessons about animals.
Aquarium of the Pacific also has live feed webcams, activities, and videos. Scientists, journalists, aquarium staff and artists are giving lectures, and the aquarium also has an online learning center.
Digging in dirt is always a time-consuming option and this is the time of year kids can get out in the garden and get things ready for spring planting. The University of California Cooperative Extension suggests websites such as Junior Master Gardener Program, Life Lab, the National Wildlife Federation, Project Learning Tree, and U.S. Fish & wildlife Services.
If art is their thing, kids can get to doodling and send their efforts to Google for its yearly doodling contest. This year’s theme is “kindness” and kids are to create their own Google Logo Design.
