Artistic program opens scholarship to high school students

The Music Center (TMC) has opened its application for scholarships to high school students in Studio City and southern California.

The Spotlight program of TMC provides those who earn a scholarship the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills; gain self-esteem, courage, and confidence; and challenges them to step outside of their comfort zone. The program includes auditions, personalized feedback, experiences in the arts, performing arts workshops, and master classes taught by professional art administrators and artists.

Over $100,000 in scholarships are offered every year. Poster printing is usually called upon when announcements of such scholarships need to be made throughout a region.

To apply for a scholarship, students first submit online a video audition for Preliminary 1, which is the first round. Those who advance to the second round, which is Preliminary 2 and semifinal rounds, then audition in person at TMC. Judges who come from both the professional and academic worlds provide written feedback to all applicants during the semifinal rounds and classes. The classes end with a grand finale performance on Wednesday June 15 2022 at the Ahmanson Theatre.

There is no charge to apply for theses scholarship to which students can apply in multiple categories. Categories include classical and jazz instrumental, classical and non-classical voice, acting, dance, and ballet. Applications will be accepted until Friday October 15.
