Apartment building under construction in Studio City

A residential development is currently underway in Studio City on a hillside just off Cahuenga Boulevard. It will replace several homes at Regal Place.

Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents and visitors of such projects and to keep them abreast of its progress.

The apartment building will have 28 units, a first-floor parking garage, and is five stories tall. The building was designed by Labyrinth Design Studio and features stepped building heights which follow the hillside surrounding the property. The structure is a contemporary design with terrace decks and balconies. The building itself is gray with both gable and flat roofs with brown trim.

An incentive from Transit Oriented Communities enables the building to be larger than that allowed by zoning regulations. For such a consideration, there will be four apartments reserved as affordable housing to be rented by those households with low income as a replacement for the four homes that were taken down as part of the project.

The project is across from the corridor of the US 101 freeway from Universal City. Under construction there is an office campus for NBC Universal which will span 400,000 square feet. The Hilton Universal City hotel is also being expanded with a new tower that will be 17 stories high.
