Vacaville to hold youth triathlon

The second annual Vaca Tri, a triathlon for young people, will be held by the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department later this month.

Such special events are often promoted throughout a city and surrounding communities with poster printing to encourage participation.

The triathlon will be a competition for children between the ages of 7 and 17. Those who are 7, 8, 9, and 10 years old will swim for a total of 50 yards, bike a half mile, and run one-quarter of a mile.

Those who are 11 and 12 years old will swim 100 yards, bike one mile, and run one-third of a mile.

Those between 13 and 17 years old will swim 200 yards, bike one mile, and run one-third of a mile.

Biking will be done in nearby trails and the run will take place on a course in the parking lot at Three Oaks Community Center.

The cost to register for the event is $35 and pre-registration is required. This fee includes a sponsor goodie bag, a T-shirt, and a medal for finishing the race.

For those who want to participate but don’t have a bicycle of their own, Correctional Medical Facility will be offering out bikes. Participants will still need to provide their own helmet.

This event will take place on Sunday May 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The location will be Three Oaks Park, with all swimming activities taking place at the Walter Graham Aquatic Center.
