The Parks and Recreation Department of the city of Vacaville is inviting qualified public art consultants, artistic teams, artists, and art creators based in the community to submit proposals for the Trower Park Community Art Project.
The goal of this initiative is to transform Trower Park, which has been recently renovated, into an inclusive and vibrant space that showcases cultural richness, diverse voices, and the natural beauty of the area. Creative professionals with experience in community engagement and public art can submit a proposal for one or more of three major components of art.
One is mosaic tile art in low park areas while another is surface murals on skate elements, the basketball courts, and the mist pad. The last one is Alebrije-inspired placemaking sculptures, which is a project that will be led by an sculptor who is experienced and who will lead budding artists in the area to develop and present proposals of public art with one final project to be completed.
Those who make proposals need to demonstrate their experience in public art installation and community engagement. All proposals need to incorporate opportunities for participation by the public. Consideration of a special nature will be given to those with a professional or personal connection to the Trower Park neighborhood.
