San Francisco Bay-based Goodwill has opened its latest store in Fairfield. Those living in nearby Vacaville will want to check out this location and see everything it has to offer.
The location spans 27,000 square feet and is in the Fairfield Corners shopping center in what was formerly a Big Lots store. It currently has 100,000 items for resale and plans to add 10,000 new items each day.
This is the first of Goodwill’s 10 larger format locations it plans to open in the Bay Area this year. Goodwill is moving to these larger stores as part of its strategy to open outlets four times larger than its previous smaller thrift stores, along with expanded space in the backroom to process donations.
CEO of Goodwill San Francisco Bay, Tim O’Neal, said that the plan is to open 10 new stores this year and 10 in each of the following years. He added that the larger stores also mean increased opportunities for employment. For example, he said that this new store will initially employ 35 people but as it grows, more team members will be added. The goal will be to reach 60 people, and this will happen with every store in the area.
Such new stores and their employment opportunities can be made known throughout a region with flyer printing.
