The Vacaville City Council has authorized the purchase of the Harbison House, and for the Vacaville Museum Foundation to operate the Vacaville Museum.
These two agreements will maintain the commitment of the Foundation and the city to preserve history, and ensure long-term benefits for the community. News of such agreements and their significance in preserving the historical legacy of the city is often made known to residents with flyer printing.
The Harbison House is on East Monte Vista Avenue and plays a key role in the heritage of the city, symbolizing its historical roots. The agreement regarding the purchase of the Harbison House will give the city full control over the Harbison Event Center (in which the Harbison House is located) so that future decisions regarding the use of the site will be safeguarded. The city is also committed to spending $500,000 on significant upgrades and maintenance for the Vacaville Museum.
The management and license agreement of the Vacaville Museum will initially be for five years, with the potential to add three extensions of five years each. The city will also initially contribute $45,000 for the first year of operation and then increase its contribution to over $50,000 in four years. The city will be responsible for overseeing major systems while the Foundation will be tasked with day-to-day operations.
