Unique ice cream shop opens in Sorrento Valley

Kula is now opened in Sorrento Valley, becoming the only gluten-free and all vegan ice cream shop in the San Diego area.

The shop had previously been available only at farmers’ markets and operated from a space that was shared with Maya’s Cookies. Libby Lefanowicz, founder of Kula, earlier this year decided to open her own shop and built a production facility for her ice cream. The front of the building has become a tasting room and scoop shop. Many kinds of printing services can be used to create Flyers and other materials to inform residents of new offerings in town.

There are 12 flavors served at Kula, ranging from Lava Cake, made from almond milk with chunks of gluten-free cake, to Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, made from coconut milk with pieces of cookie dough. Another choice is Wine Not?, a red wine sorbet including swirled chocolate and roasted cashews. The ice cream is available in homemade waffle cones or sugar cones, or in cups complete with a waffle sugar cookie.

To cater to the community, Lefanowicz has developed a range of flavors and bases that are free of nuts, sugar, and coconut. Customers can order scoops and pints of ice cream as well as gluten-free ice cream cakes on a pre-order basis.

Kula’s opening hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6:00 pm.
