BlueNalu recently announced that it is moving to a larger facility in the Sorrento Valley section of San Diego so that it can meet its goals of commercialization.
BlueNalu is planning to manufacture various kinds of seafood products from fish cells, such as those from mollusks, crustaceans, finfish, and other types of fish that are over-fished, difficult to farm-raise and imported. These products will have premium prices, high consumption per capita, and be familiar to consumers. Flyer printing can be used so that consumers learn more about such products and can then look to purchase them.
President and CEO of BlueNalu, Lou Cooperhouse, said that, as part of this expansion, the company plans to reduce the need for imported products, reduce the pressure on fisheries, create jobs, and enhance the food security in countries around the world that will be humane for sea life, healthy for people, and sustainable for the planet. He expressed his delight in being able to establish and grow this business in the San Diego area and to be able to reach the company’s goals of creating a seafood supply chain that is more stable.
The new facility will be 6,000 square feet in size. There are 12 full-time people employed at the company and other resources which are under contract. There is also an advisory board of nine people to assist with strategies to reach the company’s goals.
