Businesspeople and Sorrento Valley residents inclined towards oration have no doubt marked their Calendars for tonight’s Speaking with Ease Workshop.
The evening event is aimed at improving public speaking and working on presentation techniques.
The heart of the workshop centers on presentations and stage fright. Through the two-hour lesson, participants will learn to get comfortable on stage and discover different strategies for handling the nervousness that comes with being the center of attention. This is done through discussion of and practice with giving presentations. Attendees will be given some short topics that they will have to give a brief discourse on. Each presentation will be filmed so that the student can see where their mistakes are.
The workshop is based on techniques refined through the Speaking Circles International group. The group was founded in 1989 by a man named Lee Glickstein, who suffered from severe stage fright his whole life. This led him to come up with some new approaches to public speaking based on relational presence. The group has trained facilitators all over the world, including the leader of this workshop.
The Speaking with Ease Workshop will be held this evening, July 26, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at 10951 Sorrento Valley Rd. No prior experience with public speaking is required, and the cost for participation is $55 per person.
