Sorrento Valley lovers cook healthy

Couples in Sorrento Valley looking for a prime date are signing up for the latest cooking class being offered by the Bastyr University Clinic.

‘Come Share My Plate - Healthy Date Night Cooking’ is an evening event offering everything a pair needs to make their dinners sizzle.

The discussion starts with a breakdown of the nutrition philosophy being used in creating the meal. With these basic building blocks, couples can go on and try to create new meals of their own. Afterwards Bastyr's chef will go through the creation of a three-course meal that includes an arugula, avocado, and almond salad topped with a fresh fruit vinaigrette dressing, along with a chicken zoodle soup (zoodles being a squash alternative for noodles), and skillet corn bread with jalapenos.

All ingredients and recipes are wholefood and organic. Vegan and gluten-free variations can also be part of the lesson, if requested in advance. As part of the course materials, participants will receive all the ingredients needed to make the meal, a cooking space and dishes to work with, and a booklet printing of the recipes as well as samples to take home.

Come Share My Plate - Healthy Date Night Cooking will be held on March 28 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, at the Bastyr University Clinic, located at 4110 Sorrento Valley Blvd. The class costs $20 a person and the class size is limited to 20. For more information, visit the website.
