Rail service to Sorrento Valley to be updated

SANDAG, the regional planning agency of San Diego County, has been awarded $300 million by the state of California to add a second set of rails between Sorrento Valley and the San Dieguito Lagoon and to move the railroad tracks off the Del Mar bluffs.

Such agencies often turn to local printing services to make announcements of such awards and their benefits for an area using Flyers, mailers, and other printed materials.

A senior planner at the San Diego Association of Governments. Danny Veeh, said that is a momentous milestone in that this money is larger than any other award that SANDAG has received for working on this corridor. This is the route of the railroad from San Diego to Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo and is one of the busiest corridors for railroads in the United States.

Adding a second set of rails or double tracking improves rail service and facilitates the passing of trains. There are concerns about erosion at the Del Mar bluffs which is a viable threat to public safety. Moving the tracks off the bluff and building a tunnel beneath the city of Del Mar will eliminate one of the last bottlenecks in the corridor.

Veeh said that work on a final design for the project is expected to begin in 2026. Construction could begin in 2028 and be completed in 2035.
