The frequency of Coaster commuter rail service will be increased this fall adding new weekend and weekday trips to its schedule.
Chair of the board of directors of the North County Transit District, Tony Krantz, said that those who travel along the Interstate 5 corridor and use the rail service will have more transit options to get to their destination between downtown San Diego and Oceanside.
Among the changes in the Coaster schedule is changing the service offered by the Sorrento Valley Coaster Connection during the peak hours of the weekdays and adding bus trips of the Breeze system into the Poinsettia Station to connect with Coaster during peak hours as a pilot program. Other changes will include:
• increasing the number of weekday trips every day from 22 to 30
• increasing the number of trips on Fridays during the summer and winter to 32
• increasing the number of trips on Saturdays during the summer and winter to 20
• increasing the number of trips on Sundays to 20
Such new schedules are often made available to the public with Brochures and Flyers created by local Print shops.
Krantz added that having more trips will mean that people will have increased opportunities to take the rail service to get to school or work, to shop, to get to healthcare, to enjoy time with family and friends, and to enjoy the many other features in the area.
