Popular taco restaurant to open in Sorrento Valley

City Tacos, a popular taco eatery in the San Diego area, is making plans to expand across the county.

The chain was founded in North Park in 2014. A location in La Mesa was added in 2017 and now four more locations have opened, or are scheduled to open, in San Diego County, including Imperial Beach, Pacific Beach, Encinitas, and the Sorrento Valley area. Gerald Torres, owner of City Tacos, commented that the restaurant has been expanding quickly while still being responsible. Openings have typically been quiet so that people can come in and the restaurant can provide the best possible service.

However, a grander opening celebration was held at the Imperial Beach location, with the first 200 customers receiving free tacos. It also partnered with local IB Street Tacos to offer cameron enchilada, pollo asado, and carnitas tacos. Torres plans to offer breakfast items at the Imperial Beach location in the near future.

There will be a wrap-around patio at the Encinitas location and will be 2,000 square feet in size, so diners can relax and enjoy their meals.

The Pacific Beach location will be opening in early summer and the location in Sorrento Valley will be open in about a year.
