Aquarium goes spooky for Halloween

Locals in and around Sorrento Valley can head to the Birch Aquarium for a Halloween-themed event.

The ‘Haunted’ Aquarium will feature spooky science exhibits from the Scripps Institution Oceanography Scientists. Guests can create their own seaweed slime to bring home, check out the 3-D microscopes, hear shipwrecked tales, and dance to the music. In addition, attendees can have a close encounter with a huge Humboldt Squid and learn more about this fascinating creature.

There will also be a chance to see scary sea creatures such as skeleton shrimp and sea spiders. Attendees can dress up in a ‘family-friendly’ costume and possibly receive a prize. Various local organizations will provide fun activities and giveaways. The Splash Cafe will have Halloween treats and other food for sale too.

It is likely brochure printers have been busy creating pamphlets for the event. To encourage repeat business, Brochures could highlight exhibits, special events, and the hours of the Birch Aquarium.

Pre-event tickets cost $12 for members and $17 for nonmembers. Tickets at the door cost $19 for everyone. Kids aged two and under are free. Finally, admission coupons may not be used at this event.

It all takes place on October 23 and 24 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The Birch Aquarium is located on 2300 Expedition Way in La Jolla.
