President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Kimberly Becker, expressed her happiness that the many years of discussions with Alaska Airlines about nonstop service to Cancun have been beneficial. She added that the new routes to Missoula and Fort Lauderdale will enable residents to explore Western Montana and escape to South Florida, and in turn allow residents of those areas to enjoy what San Diego has to offer.
Flights to Missoula and Fort Lauderdale will be a first for the airport, while the service to Cancun during the winter is the first time there have been nonstop flights to Mexico in over 10 years.
