As a kickoff to Coastweeks, California Coastal Cleanup Day has been scheduled along with a wide range of other events to follow.
Long Beach residents are invited to show their pride in the city and its beautiful beaches by participating in the California Coastal Cleanup Day on September 19. The annual event entices tens of thousands of Californians who realize that keeping beaches and waterways clean is not only good for the environment, but also for the state and local economies as well.
Every year around $428 million is spent by the state of California and city governments to combat litter and prevent pollution. This is done to protect the environment, maintain the quality of life of the state’s residents, and keep tourism dollars flowing into the state. Each year the California Coastal Commission makes a special push to offset economic impact and environmental damage caused by litter with Coastweeks, which this year runs September 19 to October 11.
The success of large, widespread events such as this one is often enhanced by banner printing services that drum up excitement well in advance. Individual events in various communities may benefit from the assistance of a flyer printing service.
California’s Coastal Cleanup Day is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, the largest volunteer event in the world, organized by Ocean Conservancy. A listing of events, broken down by date and county can be found at the California Coastal Commission website
