Singer/songwriter coming to Costa Mesa

An artist who began writing songs as a teenager and has enjoyed a decades-long career is coming to Costa Mesa.

Jackson Browne got his start by composing songs for other artists, such as the Eagles, for whom he co-wrote the classic “Take It Easy.” He also composed material for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, whom he joined for a short time. Encouraged by his success, Browne released his own material on his debut album, “Jackson Browne,” which gave him two top 40 hits, “Rock Me on the Water” and “Doctor, My Eyes.”

He continued to release successful albums, but it was not until 1977 that he got his big break with “Running on Empty.” The album made it to the No. 3 spot on the album chart, where it stayed for more than a year. The effort was both a concept album and a live album, as Browne used the songs to explore the experience of living on the road. Two Top 40 hits, “The Load-Out/Stay” and the iconic “Running on Empty” were both from this album.

He released his latest album, “Downhill from Everywhere,” in 2021. A review says:

“Browne's voice is as strong and distinctive as ever and his backing band are all outstanding musicians.”

Jackson Browne will appear at The Pacific Amphitheatre on September 3 at 7:30 pm. When organizers of events like this want to create publicity, they can turn to poster printing for colorful advertising.
