A huge weekend is on the way in Costa Mesa to celebrate all things Scotland.
Scottish Fest is the largest Scottish, American, and Celtic festival in Southern California, lasting for two full days. Among the treats are a children’s glen, information on Scottish genealogy and clans, Scottish foods and gifts, athletic contests, Highland dancing, pipe and drum competitions, and Celtic music.
Entertainment will take place on several stages; sheep herding and Scottish athletics will have their own spaces. The Main Arena will host large groups such as massed bands, and jousting by the Imperial Knights.
The scheduled bands include Stage Cru, Craik in the Stone, and Wicked Tinkers. All three base their performances on the Celtic tradition, but add their own spin. Stage Cru puts a new take on sea shanties, hornpipes, and other tunes with traditional instruments, while Craic in the Stone plays not only Celtic tunes, but covers of songs by groups like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Wicked Tinkers are at the forefront of the ever-increasing Tribal Celtic movement, and the Marine Corps Band will give two performances as well.
The jam-packed weekend is scheduled for May 25 and 26, from 10.00am until 6.00pm on the 25th, and 10.00am until 5.30pm on the 26th. The venue is the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Organizers of massive events like this will often work with printing companies who use advertising techniques such as flyer printing to create a list of events.
