Joel Corry, who is based in London, is a DJ/producer who has been playing clubs in Europe and the UK for the past ten years. Corry came of age during the UK Garage band age, and the musicians who influenced him include DJ EJ, MJ Cole, and Todd Edwards, whom he continues to revere.
Corry’s breakthrough came in 2019, when his single “Sorry” was on the UK Top 10 list for ten weeks and went to platinum status. The single broke the record for Shazams—an app that identifies songs—receiving more than 41,000 Shazams in 24 hours. He continued his winning streak with another platinum single “Lonely,” which climbed to No. 4 on the list, and then “Head & Heart.” MNEK was featured on the last effort, which got all the way to No. 1, and stayed at the top of the chart for six weeks, making it the longest stay of any record to make it to that position during 2020.
