A celebration of all things dance will whirl into Costa Mesa with a moving event designed for dancers of all ages and abilities.
The Segerstrom Center for the Arts is celebrating National Dance Day with a free day of dancing, music, and food at the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza.
National Dance Day is a relatively new concept, having started in 2010. The day is to encourage more Americans to get their dancing shoes on and to promote the activity as a fun way to get and stay healthy, and as a form of expression artistically. National Dance Day is celebrated across the U.S. It was usually held on the last Saturday of July, but as of this year has been moved to September.
This year's festival will feature dancing from guest artists, dance lessons, and the 2019 National Dance Day routine. Every year, American Dance Movement choreographs a special dance for National Dance Day so that people across the country can be united by learning the same steps and movements. This year's routine was developed by Matt Steffanina, a popular personality on social media.
Community events like these are opportunities for advertisers and businesses to reach a local audience with poster and banner printing.
National Dance Day is Saturday, September 21, running from noon to 6:00 pm at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Julianne and George Argyros Plaza, 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa.
