Local eatery reopens with new name

The popular Old Vine Café is changing its name and its décor.

The new name will be the Old Vine Kitchen & Bar, and it will take over the space formerly occupied by Ecco Pizzeria & Bar in The Camp in Costa Mesa. Newport Beach residents who are fans of the restaurant can drive there in minutes.

Mark McDonald is the chef and owner of Old Vine, and he says what makes his restaurant unique will remain the same. McDonald has been working for nearly 12 years to build a base of loyal customers, and serves meals with a focus on regional cuisine, and planning special events. These include events with guest chefs, hosting Community Wine Dinners, and leading trips to Italy twice a year for customers. McDonald says the new location will still have an intimate dining room, but will now offer a full bar, an enclosed outdoor patio, and a ‘Living Room’ lounge with a cozy feel. The restaurant will also center some new efforts on bar bites, cocktails, and aperitivo.

In addition, Kate Perry is now aboard as a co-owner. She has served as the sommelier for the last six years, developing a sophisticated wine list for patrons to enjoy.

The new space is set to open in February.
