Styx is known for their class and sophistication, and their setlist is expected to include hits like “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” and more.
Styx formed in Chicago in 1972, and became known for blending acoustic and hard rock guitar, acoustic piano with synthesizers, power ballads and upbeat numbers, and bringing in elements of musical theater and world music.
The band dropped their first album, “Styx,” in 1972, and followed it in 1973 with “Styx II.” This album included the smash hit “Lady,” which drew worldwide acclaim. However, their breakthrough did not come until 1977, when they released “The Grand Illusion.” This album climbed to six in the charts in both the United Stats and Canada, and went on to earn multi-platinum ranking, the first of four albums in a row to achieve this feat. “Come Sail Away,” a top 10 hit, came from this album.
To date, they have released 17 studio albums, dropping “Crash of the Crown” in 2021. A recent review says:
“Styx is still a great live act playing a strong catalog of classics while proudly featuring new music that stands up and slots in well. Not many long running acts can say that.”
Styx will be at the Pacific Amphitheatre on July 27, starting at 6.15 pm. When considering how to publicize events like this, organizers can turn to poster printing.
