A musical salute to Nowruz, or the Iranian New Year, will take place in Costa Mesa this year.
Nowruz: Iranian New Year at Segerstrom Center for the Arts will celebrate the spring equinox with music and dancing.
Nowruz, or “New Day” in English, is the customary start of the Iranian calendar, which begins at the spring equinox – usually around March 21.
Singer Shahram Nazeri will join the Pacific Symphony, composer Hafez Nazeri, and pianist Shardad Rohani with six different musical selections. There is an intermission included in the performance.
Tickets start at $45. Attendees can watch traditional Iranian dancing in the lobby before the show. Also on display will be a Haft Sin table, which is a traditional Nowruz custom where a table is set with seven items with names that begin with the Persian letter ‘Sin’ (‘S’).
The City of Costa Mesa, the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, Orange County, and the California Travel Association are all sponsors of the event. Sponsors at events such as these can use banner printing services from local Print shops.
Nowruz: Iranian New Year at Segerstrom Center for the Arts takes place March 28 at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show begins at 8:00 pm.
