Farmers who may be struggling financially right now hope that more Costa Mesa residents will do their weekly grocery shopping at local farmers’ markets.
The SOCO Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday and features locally grown and produced food such as free range eggs, organic vegetables and hormone-free meat.
The State of California has determined that farmers’ markets can remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic as they provide an essential service to the community.
According to the California Farmers’ Markets Association (CFMA), farmers’ markets have the added benefits of being spacious, open-air environments, and the food for sale has been handled by much fewer hands, often brought to the market site directly from the farm.
The market usually features live music, and games and a Kidszone, but all non-essential programs have been cancelled and will be reintroduced when health protocols are lifted. Market organizers urge visitors to don masks and to abide by social distancing rules.
Vendors at farmers’ markets such as this one can use local Print shops to create professional Banners, Signs and Brochures for customers.
The market is also offering online ordering service. Residents can place their order on the market website, and every Saturday can pick up their orders from the CTRL Collective parking lot on Beatrice Street.
The Costa Mesa SOCO Farmers’ Market is open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm every Saturday at the OC Mix parking lot, 3315 Hyland Avenue.
