The City of Costa Mesa's Parks and Community Services Department is hosting a unique opportunity for children and teens to learn the art of epee fencing this February.
The program will offer participants an opportunity to explore a sport rooted in Renaissance dueling traditions while honing physical and mental skills.
Under the instruction of the fencing center, students will learn movement, defending, and attacking skills. The program will also emphasize coordination, balance, and decision-making, all of which will provide a well-rounded athletic and educational experience. Each class is hands-on, interactive, and designed to engage participants aged seven and older.
To participate, a starter package is required, priced between $250 and $300 depending on selected options. This kit must be obtained before the first session. Interested individuals can direct their inquiries to the South Coast Fencing Center. A materials fee of $25 is also required. This fee is payable to the United States Fencing Association for insurance coverage.
Registration and additional information are available through the event listing.
Poster printing is an option to give attendees information about the dates of events such as this one.
The program will run from February 4 to 27. It will allow participants to attend once weekly on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Classes will be at 77 Fair Dr., Costa Mesa.
