Renee Elise Goldsberry has numerous credits in theater, television, and film, and is probably best known for her portrayal of Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway hit musical “Hamilton,” for which she won a Tony Award in 2016. She created the role. Her additional Broadway credits include roles in “Rent,” “The Lion King,” and “The Color Purple,” when she was part of the original cast.
Her television credits include the role of Geneva Pine in the series “The Good Wife,” and that of Evangeline Williamson on “One Life to Live.” Her work on that series netted her two nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She is also a star of the musical comedy TV series “Girls5eva,” which started on Peacock and is moving to Netflix.
At a live performance in Chicago, Goldsberry interspersed her vocal renditions of songs like Barbara Streissand’s “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” and “I Can See Clearly Now” with stories of her life and career. A review says:
“At 51, Renee Elise Goldsberry is a determined dynamic diva with no Signs of slowing down.”
Costa Mesa audiences have two chances to see Goldsberry, on June 9 and 10 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Organizers of events like this often find that using poster printing to create advertising is highly effective.
