The Chino 77th Cavalry and Chino High School Music Boosters will soon welcome marching ensembles to Chino for the 54th Chino Invitational.
This event is a long-running showcase combining parade and stadium competition.
Established in 1971, the invitational has grown into a major marching music event drawing high school programs from throughout Southern California along with visiting groups from Northern California and neighboring states. Previous editions have featured collegiate guest ensembles representing schools such as Riverside City College and San Diego State University.
Competition is divided among multiple portions, including a morning field program, an afternoon street review, and an evening stadium tournament. Performances are evaluated through the Orchestra Association and the Southern California School Band. Spectators can expect marching formations, percussion sections, color guard performances, and coordinated musical programs throughout the event.
Parent volunteers from the Chino High School Music Boosters will help operate the invitational, with proceeds and volunteer efforts supporting the school’s music department. Organizers encourage spectators to arrive ahead of desired performances because seating can become crowded later in the competition. Audience members are asked to avoid air horns and other loud noisemakers that could interfere with adjudication or recordings.
Admission to the event cost $15, applying to anyone over the age of five. All ticket purchases are nonrefundable. Music competitions often use banner printing to highlight the names of participants.
The 54th Chino Invitational Field Show Tournament will take place on Saturday, November 7 at Chino Cowboys Stadium on Jefferson Avenue.
