Unique touring film festival makes stop in Flagstaff

Flagstaff’s Orpheum Theater in historic downtown is hosting a screening for the Girl Winter Film Tour this November.

The event, presented by Moonrise Creative, features a series of ski films centering on women.

Touted as the film festival equivalent of an eclectic meal plate, the tone of the films varies wildly within the female winter sports space.

From human dramas to straight-up comedies, all set against the backdrop of big mountain skiing, the stories told in each film add up to what amounts to a veritable full-course meal of a viewing experience.

Five films will be screened, featuring in-person appearances by the skiers and movie directors. Afterwards, a Q&A with the involved talent will be held as well as a poster signing.

The films include Moonrise’s own “Winter Elements,” Mali Noyes’ “Rapid Fire,” “Vivid,” “Biscuits” and “Theory of Butter,” the latter of which features Maddie Gerritsen and Analise Gates.

While the film screening has no age restrictions for buying tickets, the individual films are not rated, and parental guidance is advised for any children who might attend, organizers said.

Film festivals like this may choose to use brochure printing to create audience programs, merch product lists and tour dates.

Moonrise Creative Presents: Girl Winter Film Tour is happening on Nov. 18 at 7 pm, with doors open at 6 pm, at the Orpheum Theater at 15 W. Aspen Ave. in Flagstaff.
