The Fourth comes alive in Flagstaff

Flagstaff will be commemorating Independence Day with a parade, mile run and concert.

Nike will once again be sponsoring the annual 4th of July Flagstaff Downtown Mile, which has been touted as "the fastest mile held at 7,000 feet." As in years past, the run will take place before the annual parade.

More than 800 runners and thousands of spectators are expected to attend. The Men's Master's Race will begin at 6:30 am, followed by the Women's Master's Race at 6:40 am. The Men's Citizen's Race will begin at 6:55 am, and the Women's Citizen Race will start 10 soon after at 7:05 am. Elite Races will begin at 7:20 am and 7:35 am, and the Kids’ Race will be at 7:45 am. Custom Nike T-Shirts sporting the well-known swoosh graphic design will go each registrant.

After the races, Nackard Pepsi and the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce will present the 2024 Independence Day Parade. The route will begin at Beaver and Elm streets, proceed south on Beaver, turning left on to Aspen, and north onto San Francisco before heading by to Elm.

Attendance will be free, and the parade will run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra will play its free annual A Flag Fourth Independence Day Concert at the Pepsi Amphitheater from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring their blankets, chairs, and plenty of sunscreen.
