Pickin' in the Pines returns

For the 18th year, the annual Pickin' in the Pines will be returning to Flagstaff in mid-September.

The two-day event will have 21 bands performing, with a band contest final ending the event on the Sunday. For the Friday, attendees will be treated to eight bands including Leftover Salmon, Never Come, Down Pick & Holler, and Mountain Time Ramblers.

Saturday's lineup will include another eight bands including The Arizona Wildflowers, Jake Leg, Steep Canyon Rangers, and the Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band. On Sunday, the remaining six bands will include Becky Buller Band, Seth Mulder & Midnight Run, and the Del McCoury Band.

Fans of bands often go to websites and purchase merchandise featuring the group's graphic design.

Side stage events and workshops will include a two-session Wernick Method Bluegrass Jamming Class where guitar, fiddle, dobro, banjo, bass, and mandolin players are invited to bring their instruments and learn how to jam and play simple old-time songs. This workshop will run Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 am to noon.

The Pepsi Amphitheater will have a kids’ zone from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, with arts and crafts activities and an interactive mural. A Young Jammers' Workshops will take place Sunday beginning at 2:00 pm at the Rooftop Solar Workshop stage.

Individual festival three-day passes are $204. Single-day passes are $96 for either Friday or Saturday, and $84 for Sunday.

Pickin' in the Pines will take place September 13 through 15 at Fort Tuthill County Park.
