Orchestra has in-person and virtual upcoming events

The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra (FSO) has a busy in-person and virtual schedule over the next couple of months.

From December 18 through 31, the orchestra under the baton of Charles Latshaw, with choreography by Andrew Needhamme, along with the NAU Community and Dance Academy, will present a virtual performance of Peter Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet. All performances will be at noon.

The $24 tickets will give 72-hour access to the taped version of the performance on Virtual Space.

An in-person performance of the orchestra will be "Musical Stories". Special guest conductor will be Daniel O’Bryant, who will lead the orchestra in Sergei Prokofiev’ s “Peter and the Wolf,” narrated by Maestro Charles Latshaw.

Other pieces will be “The Barber of Seville” overture by Gioachino Rossini, “Mother Goose Suite” by Maurice Ravel, “Carmen Suite No. 1” by Georges Bizet, and “Hungarian Dances” by Johannes Brahms.

Regular tickets range from $25 to $75, and children’s tickets are $12.50.

"Musical Stories" will take place at the Ardrey Auditorium, Arizona University Campus, Riordan Road and Knoles, Friday, January 22, 2021. The performance will begin at 7:30 pm.

The orchestra is featuring Soundscapes, a virtual informative program offered online on four Tuesdays from January 19 to February 9. Content will include special guest presentations, small group discussions, FSO pieces and composers, and their inspiration.
