The Museum of Northern Arizona has rescheduled its 87th Annual Heritage Festival, usually presented over the 4th of July, to the middle of September. The event has three festivals during the two days.
Hundreds of weavers, carvers, painters, potters and jewelers will be part of the two-day event.
The Navajo Festival will feature contemporary and traditional art for purchase. The artists will be displaying, holding demonstrations, and there will be authentic food, musical presentations, and programs about Navajo heritage. Children can watch puppet shows and take part in making crafts. Performances will include traditional social and hoop dances.
Concurrently, the Hopi Festival will offer over 100 award-winning presenters and artists from northern Arizona’s Hopi villages. On Saturday, the Easton Collection Center will be open for visitors to view authentic Hopi items.
The Heritage Festival will also have a Zuni component as over 50 Zuni artists will share their art along with Zuni cultural traditions. Guests will be able to purchase original pieces, listen to lectures and music and watch Zuni dance.
Tickets will be $15 for adults and $10 for youth.
Colorful events such as these often have photographers taking pictures of the activities and displays. These photos often go into the organization’s visitor guide brochure printing.
The Museum of Northern Arizona is located at 3101 N. Fort Valley Road, Flagstaff, and the 87th Annual Heritage Festival will be on September 12th through the 13th. Hours will be 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.
