Flagstaff welcomes new year

Flagstaff’s New Year’s Eve Pine Drop will happen three times on New Year’s Eve.

For families wishing to celebrate early, Downtown Flagstaff’s Heritage Square will begin celebrating as early as 10:00 am, with activities including cookie decorating and crafts.

A selfie station will be available for pictures, which can then go to local Stationery printers as the first or last entry in family yearly Calendars.

New Year’s will be celebrated at noon with the first Pine Cone Drop. Hershey kisses and sparkling apple cider will be served.

Families often make a day of it by making reservations at Charley’s restaurant in the nearby Weatherford Hotel.

The Pinecone will be dropped again from the Weatherford Hotel’s 3rd floor balcony at 10:00 pm for those wishing to be part of the celebration but not wanting to wait until midnight.

The “all-out” New Year’s Eve Celebration will be at midnight when the Pinecone will be dropped for the final time. There will be a brief firework display after this drop.

Weatherford Zane Grey Ballroom, bar and balcony is a favorite haunt for New Year’s Eve revelers as they await the new year. Golden $125 admission tickets will include hors d’oeuvres, mini rolls, prime rib sliders, and desserts. Complimentary souvenir flutes of champagne will help bring in the New Year at midnight.

The festivities at the hotel will begin at 7:00 pm.
