Flagstaff Four-H youth are finishing their projects and getting their livestock ready for the 2019 Coconino County Fair which will be coming Labor Day weekend.
The exhibit areas will have special awards for entries in over 14 categories. Some categories will include cakes, breads, pies, needle and fiber, quilts, sewing, artwork, poultry and photography.
Workshops and demonstrations will be held in the Clubworks, Schools, Home Economics, Gems and Minerals, and Llama buildings. Some of topics will be robotics, 4-H STEM activities, silversmithing, rug braiding and spinning and fiber demonstrations.
The Flagstaff High School Band will kick off the entertainment on the Main Stage on Friday. Other acts during the fair will be the Rubber Chicken Show, Magician Larry Wilson, Ballet Folklorio de Colores, Flagstaff Community Band, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Livestock shows and judging competition will take place mostly in the livestock Show Ring. The only exception will be the Rabbit and Cavie Showmanship which will be in the Small Stock Show Area. Western, Gymkhana and English Horse Shows will be in the Posse Arena. Winners often have pictures taken with their prize entries. Some like to take the photos to local Print shops for poster printing.
The fair will take place Friday, August 30th to Sunday, September 1st from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and September 2nd from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. The event will be at Tuthill County Park, 2446 Fort Tuthill Loop.
