Independence Day is just around the corner, and the Pioneer Museum, 108 Fort Valley Road, will host the Flagstaff Folk Festival which will be two days of folk music played by over 100 performers on five stages.
Workshops will be available for songwriting, flat picking, banjo, ukulele, and Celtic styles. The Pine Circle will have bluegrass, fiddle tune, and ukulele jams. There will be plenty of activities to keep the kids busy.
Heritage Square will be the starting location for the Downtown Mile. Runners will line up at 7:00 am.
The parade will start at 9:00 am and go until around 11:00 am. The route will be the usual trip around Historic Downtown Flagstaff. Parade organizers are no doubt getting banner printing done that will display each Main Stage sponsor’s logo design.
After the parade everyone will want to stick around the Pepsi Amphitheater for Flag Fourth, the Pops concert performed by the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. This free event will open at 2:00 pm and guest performers will begin the music at 2:15 pm. The concert will begin at 3:00 pm.
Families can also enjoy live music and activities at Lights on the Lawn, which will run from July 4 through 7 at Oakmont Continental Country Club, 2380 N. Oakmont Drive. Fireworks will be subject to weather conditions.
