Flagstaff feasts for charity

Flagstaff Shelter Services will be presenting its Fifth Annual ‘Feast for Flagstaff’ – its major fundraiser – in early April.

Chefs from local restaurants such as Criollo Latin Kitchen, Lotus Lounge Bigoot BBQ Catering, and Shift will prepare the feast. There will be music and a raffle.

The evening will feature its traditional exhibit ‘Perspectives of Homelessness’. The presentation will include written and oral stories of actual people who are or have been homeless in our area.

Patrons will want to purchase tickets as soon as possible because the event was sold out last year. Tickets will be $75 each or $430 for six ticket bundles and can be purchased at the organization’s website.

Flagstaff Shelter Services is a local organization that’s mission is to provide the homeless with tools and crisis stabilization such as housing regardless of circumstances. Its vision is to provide “shelter tonight and housing tomorrow.” It presently runs a day resource center that serves food and shelter to an average of 155 people daily and a free health clinic. The center offered beds to over 43,000 participants each year.

Businesses like to support charities such as this as part of their community outreach programs. They can use pictures taken at the event to put into their brochure printing as part of their advertising campaigns.

Feast for Flagstaff 2019 will take place Saturday, April 6 from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm (MST) at the Downtown Flagstaff Library, 300 W. Aspen Avenue.
