The Northern Arizona Book Festival will be returning to Flagstaff for four days in mid-April.
Partnering with local community organizations, businesses, presses and non-profits, the festival will feature traditional modes like panels, discussions, readings, and book fairs, along with screenings, workshops, interactive activities, performances, and immersive experiences.
Beginning at 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 10, a Welcome Back Reading by local artists and Will Cordeiro will take place at the Annex Cocktail Lounge. At 7:00 pm, the Lounge will have a Northern Arizona University MFA Creative Writing presentation with Jenny Irish and Jack Galati.
The following day, there will be a Ekphrasis Poetry Workshop beginning at 10:00 am at the university conducted by journalist, writer, and poet Camille LeFavre. At 6:30 pm, m.s. RedCherries, Amber McCrary, and Kinsale Drake will be giving keynote readings at the Museum of Northern Arizona. Later that evening, beginning at 9:00 pm, a Nightcap Open Mic + Reading for aspiring writers takes place at the Hops on Birch.
The Heritage Square Book Fair will run from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, April 12. Local arts organizations, small presses, and magazines will be vending, and performances will be every hour. Flagstaff Brewing Co., Firecreek Coffee, and Beaver Street Theatre will have readings, panels and workshops all day. Attendees at book fairs often gather Business Cards from those vendors they especially enjoy.
Finally, April 13 will be a Slow Down Sunday as guests are invited to dance, run, enjoy workshops, and mingle with others.
