The Flagstaff area sets the tone for the upcoming holiday season with a holiday show at the Theatrikos Theater, The Polar Express at the Grand Canyon Railway at the end of November and the Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting in early December.
A little far away but worth the trip will be the North Pole Experience. Running from November 15th through December 24th, the railway excursion will include a stop at Santa's 400-year-old workshop, toy factory, Elf University, Mrs. Claus' Bakery and Santa Sleigh hangar.
The North Pole express will take its first night run of the season at 4:00 pm with trips leaving every 10 minutes. The last one leaves at 7:00 pm.
The Grand Canyon Railway is located at 601 W Franklin Avenue, Williams.
From November 29th through December 22nd, The Theatrikos Theater located at 11 W Cherry Avenue will be presenting Elf the Musical, a story based on the holiday classic movie of the same name.
Tickets for the preview on the 29th will be $21.
Downtown Flagstaff will kick off the holiday season with its annual Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 7th beginning at 2:30 pm. Along with the tree lighting at 6:15 pm, Heritage Square (22 E. Aspen Avenue) will be filled with live music, Santa visits and photos, s'mores, hot cocoa and craft-making opportunities.
Pictures taken with Santa often go to local Stationery printers to be made into Christmas cards.
