Springdale will be hoping for excellent weather early in June as multiple activities are being scheduled.
The weekend will kick off with the opening of Music in Murphy Summer Concert Series in the park on a Friday evening. Calle Soul, a NAMA Award winning salsa band, will be performing.
My Sisters Keyper, Inc. will host A Race for Life 5K Run/Walk, which will precede a Community Health and Family Fun Expo.
Registration for the race/walk will be $25 and proceeds will go to Breast Cancer awareness and social services. Runners will receive T-Shirts with the Breast Cancer pink ribbon graphic design.
The Expo will be free, but guests need to register. The Expo will feature a fishing derby, canoeing, archery and a BB-gun shooting range. There will also be volleyball, tug of war, a three-legged race, and bounce houses for the less competitive.
Community organizations will be holding mammograms and dental and other health and wellness screenings. There will also be a cleaning fish and cooking demonstration.
Calle Soul will be playing from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm on the evening of Friday, June 1 in Murphy Park.
The My Sisters Keyper, Inc. Race for Life 5 K Run/Walk will be Saturday, June 2 at 8:00 am in Murphy Park, 600 Ash Street. Later that day, the Community Health and Family Fun Expo will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm also in the park, but at 650 Ash Street.
